Halloween Party

Last night the Young Womens and Young Mens in our ward threw their annual Halloween party (great job Robyn and Ryan, by the way). This has become the highlight of our october festivities over the years. This year we dressed up as the Super Stout's our own family of Super Heroes. I made the costumes (and finished them in just the nick of time, about 15 minutes before the party).

I love dressing up as a family, however about two nights ago as I was working on the costumes Joel commented on how each year it takes longer and longer to get costumes ready...of course we have more kids. The best is when he was complaining about all the 'work' involved.....hmm. I'd like to say that all he did is trace and cut the lightning blots out. Maybe it's just me but when he said that i just started laughing. Darn those complicated time consuming lightning bolts! I sure do love my husband! When he was cutting out the lightning bolts he also said that he really hates all this 'crafty stuff'......hmmm, once again may I remind you, it was ONLY cutting out lighting blots. By the way he was talking you would have thought I had him sewing up flowers or something. What a crack up!

I am hating that I dont have a camera to take pictures of these costumes, I really was happy with the way they turned out. Maybe I can get someone to take a picture of us on Halloween so I can post it!

Hey Sucker Sucker

I have always thought that little babies who suck their thumbs are so cute. I dont care that people say you dont want a thumb sucker, because I always have. I think a little baby sucking their thumb is just adorable...but, none of my kids have ever sucked their thumbs, until now. Parlee has started sucking her thumb, and not just as a mistake, she spits out her pacifier and puts in her thumb. Or wakes up from sleeping and puts her thumb in and is able to fall back to sleep. I just LOVE it. It's so adorable to see her sleeping with that little thumb in her mouth.

cinnamon bears

Yesterday, while heading to Vegas I gave Kyler a cinnamon bear, he put it in his mouth and exclaimed "woah, that's a really hot dude"

KyLeRs BiG AdVeNtUrE!

Joel took Ky to work with him on Thursday, up to SLC. It was just an overnight trip and Ky was pretty excited about it. We packed all his clothes in his Thomas the Train backpack, he was way excited.

Joel and Kyler left and picked up Dan and Phillip who were also going....this is when Kyler decided that perhaps this is not what he wanted to be doing. As soon as they picked up Phillip, whom Kyler doesnt know, he started crying. Joel said he was starting to get some real stranger anxiety. They pulled over at Browse and moved people around in the truck, Joel talked to Kyler and he seemed to be doing better. I called them at about the time they hit Filmore, I asked to talk to him. As soon as he heard my voice he started crying again, saying "I just go mommy's home" It nearly broke my heart! I tried to talk to him and get him excitied about his work adventure, but he remained sad the through the whole conversation.

I talked to him again when they got up to Aunt Tawni's house, needless to say with all of his cousins there, he forgot he was sad. When I talked to him all he said was "mom I play now" and quickly gave the phone back to Joel. I guess all was well.

The next day Kyler also had fun, and then began the journey back home. This time Dan and Phillip were in the welder truck following Joel and Kyler, so the trip started out great. I called at about the time they were in Payson, and Joel informed me he was having some truck problems (gotta love that, he's only had the truck about a week now). Needless to say they could only drive for about 10 minutes at a time. Kyler slept through a lot of this. Unfortunetly not long enough....They didn't get home until 4:30 in the morning. Kyler had spent much of the night worried about the truck and crying from time to time. That trip took them about 10+ hours! I couldn't believe that this is how Kylers first adventure alone with his dad went. The other kids beg for there time alone with Dad, and I just have this little feeling that Kyler wont be asking to go to work anytime too soon.

something about 1st grade

I think it must be the age, but my kids have done some funny things in first grade. I am thinking if I ever had to teach elementary it would be in the first grade, because kids are just so funny. When Joely was in first grade she had this assignment where there were 4 boxes representing different time periods (a baby, now, an adult, a grandparent) she had to draw a picture in each bow representing that period of life....the best was the adult, she drew a picture of me (as a preface, I had just had Kyler, who was an awesome baby who was just happy), I was laying on a bed, with a baby next to me, the baby is creaming complete with the words waa, waa, waa. And above me was the caption, 'so tired, too tired'. I just laughed and laughed when I saw this, it is still hanging on my fridge as a reminder. I thought I was energetic and Kyler was great, but I guess this is the way she viewed me ;)

Now on to Taran, this morning I pulled work out of his backpack and there was a paper with some sentences. I asked him what it was, he said he just had to write some sentences about anything he wanted, this is what his said....

I like to have frens (friends)
I like to play
and hav sleovres (sleep overs)
But my mom dus (does) not let me

Well, dont I just look like the mean mom ;) He can write about anything and he chooses to write about things he loves and how I wont let him do anything fun that he, I think I am getting the great mom award yet again.

Joelys First Quilt

Joely just completed her very first quilt top last night and it turned out great! She did it all herself, the sewing the ironing, choosing the fabrics (which are SOOO cute). Last night I strated machine quilting it, and will hopefully have it bound by tomorrow!
